30 Day Cowlean Challenge: Day Sixteen: Pre-Commitment

Hi guys,

Weigh-in: 205 lbs
Calories: 3500

Today’s a late one, and to be honest I want to rattle this off so I can get to sleep! I often talk about something called “pre-commitment”, and this is part of it. Basically, before you go on any kind of journey, you need to set yourself rules to follow. This really helps because rather than you saying to yourself “I can’t”, you instead say “I don’t”. This is a classic trick. So for example, I set myself a rule of a blog post every single day for thirty days, of at least 250 words.

When setting the rules be as specific as possible, and don’t feel bad about completing them on technicality. Just putting the right foot forward consistently is what snowballs into something a lot bigger.

Here are some examples you could use:
  • I will go to the gym for at least five minutes, twice a week
  • I’ll meditate for five minutes a day
  • I will practice intermittent fasting for one day a week
  • I’ll go out and only drink spirits
  • I’ll prepare food before I go out to eat when I get home and I’ll know I’ll want something!
  • I’ll send my weight to a friend/family member each day to keep me accountable
  • I’ll cut out grains at lunchtime
  • I’ll get at least seven hours of sleep each night
  • I’ll read a health related piece of news each day (or blog ;) - C)
  • I’ll introduce a new supplement each week

It really is simple as that. Maybe you could come up with five rules to follow and see how much weight you can lose by following them over a month? Remember, the simpler and more specific the better, and make sure you keep the list to hand for quick access.

Until tomorrow,

Cowlean
